Let’s face it, being healthy isn’t always easy. How many times a day are we tempted to take the elevator instead of the stairs, to grab that sugary juice out of the fridge instead of water, or to skip our workout and watch TV curled up in bead instead? After a long day at work or school it can be difficult to make the hard decision and push yourself towards a healthier lifestyle. That being said, it’s definitely better for us in the long run to take the healthy route. And we all know the results do pay off. Here are 3 easy ways to ease yourself into a healthier lifestyle and stay in fantastic shape. These tricks are so easy that almost anyone can follow them and before you know it they’ll lead the way to even more healthy habits!
1. Drink an extra glass of water everyday
While this may seem like a no brainer, adding an extra glass of water everyday is the perfect way to start drinking more water. If you normally drink 5 glasses, try drinking an extra glass first thing in the morning or at night before you go to bed. Pretty soon it’ll become second nature to you and you’ll find yourself drinking more water without even thinking about it. Water is something that our bodies can never get enough of so remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
2. Take the stairs at least once a day
With the number of elevators and escalators available to us, stairs have become almost obsolete. It can seem silly to take the stairs when the elevator is right there and no one wants to lug themselves up a couple of flights of stairs when there’s an easier method to do it. However, taking the stairs is one of the easiest ways to add more movement and exercise to your day. Most people spend the majority of their day sitting at their desk in their office or in their classroom at school and don’t get the amount of exercise their body needs on a daily basis. Taking the stairs is a small way to acclimate yourself to a healthier lifestyle.
3. Sign up for a workout class
Working out with a group of people is one of the easiest ways to motivate yourself. Sign up for a class at your local gym or community center. Not only will you feel obligated to go, you’ll feel the energy of the entire group working out with you and that’s more than enough to keep you motivated. When you’re on your own it can be easy to make excuses for yourself to skip your workout but a class will keep you in check and make sure you’re not cutting any corners.
While these are just three of the hundreds of ways you can stay in better shape, they’re a great way to get started! We’ll have another installment up for you soon where we talk about even more ways to feel and look better so keep an eye out!
